Once again, thank you to Silverado's Interact Club 2009-10!!!  They decorated  13 bags to deliver the books & stuffed animals to the kids in the hospital.  My favotrite book is "The Icky Sticky Frog" by Dawn Bentley, with it's stretchy, rubbery tongue--some kid is going to LOVE it!!!  I'll update this section when I have the total count of books & stuffed animals.  Because of what you do 1st semester, I plan to contact the librarian at Gene Ward EL about donating books to them throughout the year.  IF you would like to donate to Books & a Bear next year, since Sabrina graduated, please e-mail me on the 'Contact Us' page & we can make plans to set it up.

Thank you to the staff & students of VoTech for the donations stemming from my new hobby of knitting hats.  The money goes to pay for the yarn & then the rest will be used to buy books & stuffed animals!!!  John F.= 7, Peggy P.= 4, Lois N.= 2, Kelsey L., Gerry M., Corina P., Cassidy E. & Jaylin J.  Hope they keep you warm!!!

This time, the largest donation to date has come form Silverado H.S.'s Student Council!!!  They held a book drive that collected 224 books!!!  They will be donated to the library at the Siena Campus of St. Rose Dominican Hospital's Pediatric.  The books ranged from children's picture books that parents can read to their child to chapter books for teens.  The books I loved the most were a series called "From the Files of Madison Finn" #'s 1-9, except #3 & I have already placed an order to get a copy!! 

A HUGE thank you to Jeremy S. & boys for donating 23 stuffed animals!!!  They are so cute & it'll be fun picking out books to go with them.  The kids are going to love them!!  Also thank you for the 10 books!!!

Thank you to Sabrina M. for donating a Winnie the Pooh & an elephant.  I'll let you know which books I get to go with them!!  Also want to thank you for the book "The Boy Who Looked Like Lincoln" by Mike Reiss.  I gave it away with an Abe finger puppet\frig. magnet & a teddy bear.  Also for the book "Bedtime Kiss for Little Fish" by Lorie Ann Grover, I got a cute little Powder-Blue Tang to go with it!!

Thank you to the Siena Campus of St. Rose Dominican Hospital's Pediatric I.C.U. & especially Cathy "The Hugger" C.  The entire staff is VERY appreciative of the bags containing a book & a stuffed animal, EVERY time I come to drop them off.

Again, the largest donation has come from Silverado High School's Interact Club 2008-09.  They took on Books and a Bear as one of their service projects again this year & collected 17 bags of books & stuffed animals for kids in the hospital- that's 3 more bags than last year!!!  The decorations on the bags look even better this year, Skyhawks!!!  Way to go above & beyond!!!

Our 2nd donation came from Kelsey L. of Las Vegas, in the form of a turtle to go with the "Chubby Turtle" book. She later donated 11 books.  Thanks!!!
